#mysevilla: Nuria Vallejo

Meet the amazing humans that inhabit our amazing city, Sevilla. This month we are bringing you their point of view through images perfect for vicarious living: #MySevilla.

Nuria Vallejo collects and curates some of the dreamiest images of Sevilla, managing both @igerssevilla and @igersandalucia instagram accounts. Born in Madrid, she has been living in Sevilla for the last six years and calls these colorful streets her main source of inspiration. Whether it’s her photography, painting, or embroidery, she’s perpetually inspired by the color and local life of Sevilla. A passionate foodie, she also documents her eating adventures at @nuvallejofoodie – one of her favorite ways of exploring and enjoying the city.

Here she answers a few questions for us – read on for some of her Sevilla tips. And tune into our instagram this week for a dose of the city through her eyes.

* What is your favorite tapa right now?

I love gambas al ajillo with a glass of sherry – it has to be fino de Montilla Moriles.

* What is your favorite local dish, drink, or product?

Now that the gastrobars are so fashionable and the menus in each are so similar, I have learned to enjoy the classic taverns where tapas taste like grandmother’s cooking. For example, you can start in the area of Calle Feria with a rich fried cod tapa in Taberna Casa Mateo Ruiz, a place where you can soak in the silence because the family that runs it are deaf-mute. Stroll to the Arenal area, stopping in at La Taberna to enjoy an eggs with tomato tapa or solomillo al whisky (pork loin in whisky sauce), and finish with a montadito de pringá at Casa Morales.

* What do you do on a Sunday in Sevilla?

Unlike in many other cities, Sundays in Sevilla are quiet days. There are not too many shops open, and some restaurants also take a break. So it is a day that I take the opportunity to walk around, enjoy the riverbank, and delight in all the bridges.

* Describe Sevilla in three words.

Light, excitement, and happiness.
