One of Basque Country's remaining culinary mysteries is the txoko. These dining societies are curious to outsiders in the know, but remain a fully local secret. The cooking clubs are formed by groups of friends who share a passion for good food and convene regularly to cook together, feast, chat, sing, and have a delicious time, helped along with some great wine.
The Beronia winery was founded by one such group of friends who believed that they could produce great wines to complement their culinary prowess. Bodegas Beronia is now a multi award-winning winery which is recognised as one of the finest Rioja brands in Spain. Following in the footsteps of their passionate founders, Beronia and Mimo are bringing together good friends with the perfect marriage of fine wine and food with the Beronia Txoko Club.
Join us for an authentic gastronomic club experience where you will create your own pintxos (small Basque bites), watch our expert chefs demonstrate traditional Basque dishes, and enjoy delicious wines from Rioja and Rueda. Each Beronia Txoko Club class ends with a delicious dinner and carefully chosen wine pairings. You will gather around our communal dining table to enjoy a three-course Basque meal prepared by our chefs.
Raised in the Basque Country, Ander has always been serious about food – but it wasn’t until he moved to Dublin at 18 that this passion truly flourished. There, he began work as a chef and fell in love with the creativity and heat of the kitchen, a love that later took him to a trattoria in Milan and then back home to study at the Cebanc Culinary School in San Sebastián. After finishing his studies, he moved to London to work in the city’s first Basque restaurant, Donostia, and later Urban Caprice, a high-end catering company where he cooked for celebrities at exclusive events.
After eight years in the industry, Ander took some time to travel and eat his way around Southeast Asia. He explored 10 different countries, discovering new cooking techniques and devouring a new cuisine. The trip inspired him to go back to basics and perfect the art of baking, and he’s been obsessed with sourdough and choux since.
