Taste Serra de Tramuntana
The Serra de Tramuntana is one of Mallorca’s most ancient and interesting natural heritage sites. A mountainous paradise, it has preserved over the centuries remnants of Arabic occupation and remains an ideal location for the cultivation of grapes and olives. On Taste Serra De Tramuntana, you will visit two of the most prestigious producers on the island, winemakers and olive growers that are committed to natural methods that respect the environment.
With the most breathtaking backdrop, you will visit an olive oil estate with 400 years of history. Start by taking a scenic guided walk through some of the oldest and most imposing olive groves on Mallorca where you will learn about the history of the legendary estate and the culinary arts of the Tramuntana. Learn the process, both ancient and contemporary, of extracting the juice from the olives and transforming it into golden olive oil.
After the tour you will get a chance to taste the olive oil, jams and olives before you sit down to a traditional Mallorcan product tasting, prepared in style at the heart of the olive grove with selected wines.
Then move to the Valle de Superna, where a 9 hectare vineyard is presided over by a regal stone house in the traditional Mallorcan noble style. The vines are planted terrace-style, all organic and worked by hand, which produces a wine with a real Tramuntana terroir.
Tour the vineyards, walking between rows as the finca’s winemakers explain the small-scale local hydraulic engineering, brought by the Arabs when they conquered Mallorca. Then head into the winery to see the process in person. You can even hike up the hill to an archeological site to reach the highest plot of vines, one of the highest in Mallorca, accessible only by foot and 4x4. Then taste the wines at the hands of our sommelier, an unforgettable experience with Mallorcan terroir.
